ABOUT THE NETWORK
The idea of establishing the Canadian Youth Interfaith Network has evolved from reflections on the state of interfaith dialogue and collaboration in modern Canada.
Canada is the world’s most religiously diverse country. Religious diversity is an important component of the Canadian multiculturalism. Religion does play a significant role in the shaping of mutual perceptions. To develop the culture of tolerance, as well to reduce prejudices based on religious affiliation, one should seek the common ground for recognition, respect and harmonious coexistence for the benefit of all Canadians.
To elaborate on the idea of establishing the Network, from January to March 2018, meetings have been organized in four Canadian provinces - Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, with participation of 25 different religious communities. The Government of Canada supported the initiative.
The mandate and the structure of the Network are being discussed and will be defined in due time.
